New Videos on Resolutions of Remote Sensing Data
These two videos are again from the Mini but Might series. The first is about the four different resolutions we face when working with remote sensing data. The second focuses on the spatial resolution of radar data.

Earth observation and remote sensing are key branches of science that employ satellite data to monitor and comprehend the Earth and its surroundings. However, many researchers and consumers find it difficult to get and use satellite imagery due to a variety of reasons such as cost, availability, quality, and complexity.

Farmers, Phones and Satellite Data
NASA reports on how farmers use their smartphones to collect field data and monitor their crop conditions using satellite data and mobile apps. GeoFairy allows them to assessing crop growth anomalies that indicate potential stress or damage and agricultural personnel use SERVIR’s Rice Map Engine application to combine field data from GeoFairy, satellite data, and crop trends to produce a final rice map. Finally, farmers are provided with timely and accurate information on their crop conditions and management options.
Thousands of Sentinel-2 Products Must be Ignored
During the reprocessing for the Sentinel-2 Collection-1 a problem occurred and thousands of L1C and L2A products having anomalous TCI component metadata have been disseminated. A list of such products is provided, and everyone is advised not to download or to delete them if already done.
Ocean Colour is Changing
A group of scientists have analysed 20 years of MODIS data from 2002 to 2022 and noticed that 56% of ocean surfaces have become greener. This might be a result of climate change, but the real cause is not yet known.
Software and Tools
QGIS Server got OGC Certified
QGIS has announced that QGIS Server LTR 3.28 is now certified against WMS 1.3.0. Thes last years, they worked a lot towards a robust implementation of the WMS 1.3.0 specification.
Beyond EO
Men were Hunters and Women Gatherers
This is still the general idea when we think of prehistoric times. But a new study is challenging this stereotype and supports the idea that women had an important role in hunting activities. The atlatl, a spear thrower device, enabled more people to participate in hunting activities by reducing the advantage of male strength. The atlatl could have been a tool that led to gender equality.
