This is a question that I’m sure many developers can relate to, and I want to share my thoughts and experience on this topic.

MIGARS 2024 - Machine Intelligence for GeoAnalytics and Remote Sensing
MIGARS aims to bring together researchers, industry professionals, and students from around the world to share and showcase recent developments at the interface of machine learning, computational science, and remote sensing, and their implementations in agriculture, forestry, geosciences, and land and water monitoring from space. The call for Abstracts is now open.

Open Layers, GDAL and QGIS Updates
Several GIS and remote sensing software, tools and services have been updated.
Free Greenhouse Gas Tracker
Kayrros, a French satellite imagery analysis provider, launched a free version of its global methane tracking map end of November. The map uses data from ESA’s Sentinel-5P satellite and a sensor on the ISS to show daily snapshots of methane emissions. The map identifies 5,645 methane super-emitters worldwide, or sources that release methane at a much higher rate than normal.

Candy Crush Is Complicated
Candy Crush Saga is popular game where the player tries to form chains of identical candies by swapping them on a grid.
A proof by computer scientist Toby Walsh that Candy Crush is among the hard problems.
Mathematical problems can be categorised based on how hard they are to solve or check by a computer. Some problems are easy (P), some are hard (NP-hard), and some are in between (NP)
Candy Crush belongs to the NP category. The mathematical difficulty of Candy Crush may explain why it is so engaging, not to say addictive, and challenging for players.
It also means that there is no efficient algorithm that can always find the optimal solution for any level of the game.
