Sentinel-1C Is in Orbit

Two days later as initially planned. A VEGA-C rocket 🚀brought Sentinel-1C finally into orbit on 05 December 2024.
But when can we expect the first data. This is hard to say. No starts the commissioning phase. It is planned for roughly 4 months. For Sentinel-1A took 6 months. So, we need to wait for the first data for some months.

Results of GDAL User Survey
In the previous newsletter, I mentioned the survey being conducted by GDAL. The initial preliminary results have now been released. It's intriguing to note that the majority of users still operate GDAL on local file systems, despite the widespread promotion of cloud processing and services, with the prevailing notion that everyone should migrate to the cloud. Perhaps the tried-and-true method of local data analysis is still very much alive.
