ESA Provides Sample Data for Third Party Missions
Over 50 satellite missions are supported by the Third-Party Missions programme. These datasets are freely availability for the purposes of research and application development.
For users it is hard to tell which of these might be useful for their application. ESA now provides sample data for the first missions. This helps to assess whether a data set can be used for research.
Indian Meteorological Satellite, INSAT-3DS, has Begun its Mission
The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) satellite INSAT-3DS has started Earth observation operations.
The satellite is equipped with advanced imaging and sounding instruments, improving upon its predecessors in radiometric accuracy, calibration, thermal management, and imaging efficiency.
The satellite’s 6-channel imager and 19-channel sounder collect data on environmental factors and atmospheric constituents, aiding in weather prediction and climate monitoring. Over 40 distinct geophysical data products are generated, which are crucial for various environmental assessments and studies.

How the preservation of remote sensing data helps scientists even decades after the end of a satellite's operational life.

Landsat NeXt Fact Sheet Available
NASA/USGS have released details about the Landsat NeXt mession. It will consist of 3 satellites, will have a 6-day revisit cycle, and will provide 26 spectral bands.

NVIDIA Announces Earth-2 for Climate Modelling
NVIDIA announced the Earth-2 climate digital twin cloud platform, aimed at simulating and visualizing weather and climate at a 2-kilometer scale. The AI Model, named Corrdiff, offers predictive imaging up to 1,000 times faster and 3,000 times more energy-efficient than current models.
The Central Weather Administration of Taiwan and The Weather Company are among the first to adopt these new technologies, with plans to improve weather forecasting and integrate meteorological data.
